Welcome to the SYNC BETA!
Thank you for being part of the SYNC beta programme. Your feedback during this phase is invaluable and will directly shape the experience for all future users. This guide covers everything you need to know to get started, troubleshoot common issues, and share your feedback with us.
Getting Access to the App
1
SYNC is distributed to beta testers via TestFlight, Apple's official platform for beta app testing.
What to expect:
On 20th May, you will be added to the SYNC beta build on TestFlight.
Shortly after, you will receive an email invitation from TestFlight (sent to the email address associated with your Apple ID). Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see it within a few hours.
If you don't already have TestFlight installed, download it for free from the App Store before accepting the invitation.
Open the TestFlight email on your iPhone and tap "Start Testing". This will open TestFlight and prompt you to install SYNC.
Once installed, SYNC will appear on your home screen like any other app and can be opened directly from there.
A few things to note:
TestFlight builds expire after 90 days, but we'll keep the build updated throughout the beta period.
You may receive notifications from TestFlight when a new build is available. We recommend always updating to the latest version, as builds may include bug fixes relevant to issues you're experiencing.
TestFlight beta apps are for personal testing only and should not be shared with others.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
2
2.1 Incorrect SYNC Score or Missing Data
If your score appears incorrect or you have empty sections in the Activity, Cycle or Recovery, the most likely cause is missing health data. Here's what to check:
Step 1 - Confirm HealthKit Permissions are Enabled
SYNC reads your health data via Apple HealthKit. Without the correct permissions, it cannot access the data it needs to calculate your score.
To check your permissions:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone
Scroll down and tap Health
Tap Data Access & Devices and find SYNC
Ensure that all data categories (Sleep, Activity, Cycle) are toggled on
Alternatively, you can review this within SYNC under Settings → Manage Integrations.
Step 2 - Verify that Data is Showing in Apple Health
SYNC can only display data that has already been synced to HealthKit or Oura. If your wearable or app hasn't written data to Apple Health or the Oura app, SYNC won't have anything to work with.
To check:
Open the Apple Health app
Navigate to Browse and check the relevant categories (Sleep, Activity, Heart Rate, etc.)
Confirm that recent data is present and up to date
If data is missing here, the issue is with your wearable or source app - not SYNC.
2.2 Oura Ring Users
If you use an Oura Ring, there is an additional sync step required beyond HealthKit if you wish SYNC to use the data you share from your Oura Ring.
Ensure your Oura Ring is connected and authorised via the Oura app:
Open the Oura app on your iPhone
Confirm your ring is synced and that recent sleep and activity data is visible
In the Oura app, go to Settings → Data Sharing and ensure that HealthKit sync is enabled and that the relevant data types are authorised
Note on data delays: Oura data can sometimes arrive later in the day depending on ring sync timing and background refresh. If your SYNC score appears lower than expected or is missing Oura data in the morning, check back later. Your score will automatically update once the data is received. There is no need to reinstall or re-authenticate.
2.3 App Feels Slow or Score Isn't Updating
SYNC requires an active internet connection to calculate your score. If you're offline, the app will display your last cached score.
If a score simply shows "—" rather than a number, this may indicate a calculation error. Please log this as a bug using the process below.
2.4 First Score Not Appearing
Your first SYNC score is delivered after you complete your daily check in. If you've just set up the app you won’t see your score straight away and will need to wait until the following day for your data to sync. Complete your check in to generate your score.
During the first 14 days, SYNC is building your personal baseline. You'll see an indicator showing progress (e.g. "Building your baseline"). Scores during this period use population averages if no baseline is available and will become fully personalised by Day 15.
2.5 General Troubleshooting Steps
If you're experiencing an issue not covered above, try the following before logging a report:
Force close and reopen the SYNC app
Check for a TestFlight update - a fix may already be available
Restart your iPhone
Re-check HealthKit permissions (see Section 2.1)
If the issue persists, log it using the process below
How to Log Issues & Bugs
3
We've set up a simple process for reporting issues so that we can investigate and resolve them quickly.
To report an issue:
Complete theSYNC Beta Feedback Form
Include as much detail as possible:
What you were doing when the issue occurred
What you expected to happen vs. what actually happened
Your device model and iOS version
The date and approximate time of the issue
Attach a screenshot wherever possible - this is enormously helpful for diagnosing UI or data issues. You can take a screenshot by pressing the Side Button + Volume Up button simultaneously, then attach the image directly to the form.
The more context you can provide, the faster we can investigate. No detail is too small!
Feedback Surveys
4
Throughout the beta period, we may send you short surveys to capture your experience with the app. These will cover things like:
Your overall impression of the app
How easy it is to understand your SYNC score
The relevance of insights and recommendations
Any features you'd like to see added or changed
Surveys will be sent via email and should only take a few minutes to complete. Your responses are anonymous unless you choose to include your details, and all feedback is reviewed directly by the team. Every response makes a difference, and we're genuinely grateful for the time you take to share your thoughts.
A Note on Beta Builds
5
As with any beta, you may encounter bugs, incomplete features, or occasional crashes. This is entirely normal and expected, it's exactly why we have testers like you. Please don't be put off if something doesn't work perfectly; just log it and we'll get it addressed.
